I will forever be upset that no one thought to stay with Zhou Zishu after Wen Kexing ‘died’. Like my dudes, this guy has been actively suicidal in the not so distant past, and even more recently was fairly casual and relatively accepting about the thought of dying.
Also, he just freaking jumped off a cliff after WKX, without hesitation. Like obviously his only reason for getting reinvested in life at all, at this point, is WKX (sorry Chengling).
Mayhaps you would like to sit by his bedside, and not have him wake up alone in some inn, and have to find out all over again that the whole thing wasn’t some horrible nightmare, that the love his life and light of his world really was just killed by their adopted martial son, and that there was nothing he could do to stop it, that he managed, once again, to let another precious shixiong die (his life’s greatest regret, and the whole reason he put those nails in himself in the first place).
Love the show. Love soooo much of the script and the scriptwriter.
Please don’t hop on this post to drag her. For a first script, this was amazing, there are too many strong points to count, stuff clearly got cut due to budget and censorship, so we’ll probably never know what her true, full script looked like, and it was still one of the most enjoyable C-dramas I’ve seen in recent memory. But that being said, I really kinda hate WKX’s Reichenbach Falls moment and the resultant fallout. I just don’t think that the people who were surrounding ZZS at that time would have left him alone like that. Thus, the nail removal wouldn’t have happened, thus none of the sacrifices that followed would have been necessary.Totally get needing to amp up the drama for the series (the whole thing with ZZS getting healed in the book was pretty anti-climactic, imo, and wouldn’t have worked for the series), but the whole scenario above just didn’t convince me.
No matter how lowly ZZS considers himself, and no matter how messed up WKX was, and how prone he was to making bad decisions, he always prioritized ZZS’s safety/survival, and ZZS had other friends who loved him, knew him, and cared enough about him that they would have watched out for him, even if WKX had forgotten to insist upon it.
